Tutor II engine question

Has anyone tried a Magnum .36 on a Tutor II?  I have some other engines but wondered if the 36 would be a good match.  The Tutor keeps staring at me and wants to come out the box.

Willie,

It will fly it, but you will be happier with a larger engine.  I'd try an LA46 or ST51.  I have flown one in Memphis with an LA40 and it was okay in pretty calm conditions.

I've got a G51 on a Tutor II, and I never fly it.  Between the added nose weight, 12" prop, and tiny tail surfaces it's hard to turn.  Not to mention with a tongue muffler it makes a huge mess that I hate cleaning up.  The power is about right, but if I had it to do again I'd either use a smaller, lighter, engine, or I'd stretch the stabilizer/elevator span.

I have one with a LA 46. Very good flying plane,even Rc guys that fly it say it is very smooth and balanced. It is also a tough airframe , mines been planted several times , several inches deep and hasn't broke the fuse or LE.Enclosed picture is of my father who hadn't flown since the early'70s, said that the Tutor II and LA 46 was a great combo.

I flew my box stock Tutor II with an ST G-51 with an Adamisin tube muffler for about a year.  Power was great with an APC 12.25x3.75 prop and, with 1/2 oz of weight on the tail, it was a good stunt trainer until I bashed it into the ground one time too many.

He told me to take it home ,clean and maintain it. Just make sure its available when he wants to fly.He really wants a fast combat plane to transport him back to the 60s. I guess so he could whup up on H. Rush a little bit. Don't really know who is ahead in that, maybe Howard can clue us in.
