We did have a good time. Wasn't bad cold, just wet.

Great pictures, Terry. Actually, cleaning off the pad was mostly a matter of clearing chunks of icy snow. Crist Rigotti, Bob Arata and Allen Brickhaus with help from you (Terry Bolin) and Jack Dock ("The Boys from the West") had done a great job on Saturday. I remember leaving my house Sunday morning in West St. Louis County with 2 more inches of fresh snow on the grass and thinking we had a contest disaster on our hands.
The mild weather Saturday kept the flying circles from accumulating more snow. Most importantly, the air was dry and there was almost no wind. The CD, Bob Arata, allowed an extra minute for getting engines started and running. But, it wasn't necessary. The competitors didn't have any trouble getting started. All but two officials were under the standard eight minute time limit. The two that ran over were over by a lot more than 1 minute.
It was a fun contest. And that is what it is supposed to be. If you decide to attend next year, the guys most prepared did the best. They dressed warm in layers. They brought spare, freshly charged glow drivers. Some brought backup planes in case the weather was horrid. This is a great way to start the contest season.

Bill is right, It's a fun contest. Beats being in the house for winter one more weekend. It actually kicks off the flying for us cause shortly after (first of march) we get some flights in at home. The lighter fluid was Ken Nash's idea! worked like a charm.
Everyone come next year!

Bob and his crew did a fine job putting on the event under difficult weather conditions. It sure was nice to get a break from the cabin fever and get outside into fresh air. Here are a few pictures of the festivities.
