Title: Monster Mower
Post by: Bob Reeves on November 08, 2010, 02:47:09 PM
If you have ever been to Tulsa you might remember the grass berms we have around the circles and pits. They work out well to give a sense of a barrier without actually being... well a barrier..

We started cutting them with the rider mowers set to the highest deck setting but decided they would be better if they were just a little taller. Came up with the idea of "Monster Mower" and this is the result. Bought a pawn shop self propelled mower for cheap, removed the wheels and brackets. I welded in 4 inch extensions on all 4 wheels and made an adaptor for the self propelled drive so it would still function.

It really looks funny kinda like a jacked up Subaru would look but it works great..

Hmmmm
If we had one, or two, it would be easy to get volunteers to mow the circles!  LL~

Didn't have my camera at the time.  But, the guys out Great Bend KANSAS way had a rider with two push mowers hooked to a bracket for mowing their grass circle and the RC area that needed mowing.  A bracket hooked to the Monster Mower and attached to the rider would save some walking on the first passes aroung the circles, I would think.

Leave to an Okie to come up with a monster truck lawn mower. Since I are one myself, I can say that.   LL~

I like the green chopper "chopper", but it needs a V Twin, (preferably a Harley Evolution), and maybe some ape hangers. Drag pipes? Looks like the Tim Taylor special.

Berm? Our fire ants build higher mounds than that.

A person wants to be very sure there are no foreign objects in the mower path.  Those things can throw a rock really, really fast.  My house has a deep dent in the wood siding and my brother once had his ankle slightly broken through his boots.
