Momokote and then Super Monokote was made originally by Top Flight Models in Chicago. It was one of the products that Great Planes/Tower Hobbies wanted when the bought out Top Flight and destroyed the tooling for any products that they produced up to that point. They wanted Monokote, the R/C kit line which they redesigned, the iron on tools and some other building products. They later came out with the Nobler, Flight Streak and Tutor -II ARFs. Great Planes had Super Monokote produced in mill rolls for them to package in house, and the formula changed a couple of times . When Great Planes went belly up, filed for bankruptcy and Horizon Hobby took over what was left and eliminated much of the Great Planes line of products. They never produced Super Monokote. What you see on eBay is stashes of stuff held in warehouses in several locations. In it's heyday, Tower Hobbies funneled all returns through a warehouse in Champaign., IL not far from their location and you could often find a guy selling stuff from there out of the trunk of his car at the NATS in Muncie. I think this is one of the warehouses that you see on eBay selling left overs and such, sometimes you are buying it by the foot from a mill roll. I don't have too much experience with the other brands like Ultracoat and when I d id use it I wasn't too happy with it. What the world needs now is a rerun of the original Super Monokote!! That was the best iron on covering on the market.
