I'm pretty sure my Brodak .40s are first generation, and the mufflers are the same as some of the later versions I've bought and seen. They are the same as the muffler that came on my Brodak .25. When I first acquired the .25, I wasn't impressed with the power it put out at all, more like amazed at the lack of power. Tom Hampshire contacted me after I made a post or two about the situation here on the list and had me send him my engine, and he sent it back with the modified muffler like Wayne is mentioning. It really woke the engine up and makes much better power. If the stock muffler restricted the exhaust that much on a .25, i was eager to try it on the .40, and the power increase was very noticeable, and the break was much harder. For the model I have the .40 on, I wanted the softer break so I went back to the stock muffler. I imagine a head shim or similar would do the trick also. All the Brodak mufflers I have seen have been the same and would like to see a photo of the one in question with a smaller outlet just to satisfy my curiosity.
Type at you later,
