Tulsa Profile Stunt and Carrier next weekend
« on: July 30, 2012, 04:08:05 AM »
Going to be hot but we have an air conditioned club house to take breaks in and will have plenty of water on hand.

Saturday 4th, Profile Stunt with PAMPA classes, B,I,A & E. No BOM, any engine.
Sunday 5th, CL Carrier, Class 1 & 2, Profile, Sportsman and 15. May or may not combine 1 & 2 depending on entries. Bill Bischoff has said he will bring a loaner or two for those that would like to try Carrier but don't have an airplane.

Should be a really fun weekend, come fly a profile in your class on Saturday then stick around on Sunday to see how much fun Carrier can be. We have 3 nice grass circles and expect to have one open both days for practice, engine setting or whatever.

Bob, I hope yawl have a great contest and every body drinks plenty water. I plan to be at the late Sept. contest, so have it cooled down for me. If any of you guys have never been to the Reeve's flying site, then try to go sometimes- Absolutely perfect manicured grass fields- Has to be one of the very best C/L sites in the country. Oh!! Great people too, them GlueDobbers!!

Weather man is saying it's going to cool down to around 100 for the weekend and morning lows are going to drop into the high 70's. Hey the wind will be light which may or may not be a bad thing. As I said above we will have plenty of water, it will be really nice and cool in the club house and we have plenty of shade to hide from the sun in.

We are going to run two circles on Saturday and am suspecting we will have all the stunt flights in before noon. IF we get any kind of turnout at all we will probably make it an annual event. Normally we are approaching the 90's this time of year and it isn't too bad.

Thanks for the kudos guys we do try to insure our guests have a good time.

Marvin Denny came down to judge along with his son, David. Walt Weatherford also helped judge. Bob Redmon and his wife drove up from Wichita Falls to fly, along with some Gluedobber members, Doug Ames, Joe McGilbra, Tim Tipton, and Joe Gilbert.

The contestants reported that it was like flying in a hairdrier exhaust that was set on high heat.

There was a Doc Holliday sighting. We expect cooler weather tomorrow for the navy carrier part of the contest.

Thanks for posting the pics Elwyn. Sure wish I could have been there but the Doc says for me to stay out of the heat for a while. At least I get to see all my friends having fun at the GlueDobbers circles. A great big Hi to all.

Hope you guys can make our Sep. contest, we enjoy your patronage. The weather should break by then.

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

Had a great time, guys! I believe the Tulsa group is the friendliest, giving-est bunch of guys and gals around! I always feel at home when I am on your field! Thanks again for the hospitality! See you all again at the end of September.

On the way home to Wichita Falls, I drove through two large burn areas west of Tulsa, still smoldering in places. It was vast and sobering. We saw more blackened countryside south to Lawton, and just before we reached our home, we passed another charred area only a few miles west of our place. It was pretty clear these fires all started at the edge of the road.

Here's hoping for rain and lower temperatures!

If I ever learn how to set an alarm clock I would have made the stunt portion.   As it was I got there just before the tropphy presentation.  It was hot, the Ford said it 107F.   Great to see every one again.  That evening met up with Bill B, Mike G. and Phil at the motel.   Went next door for a bite to eat while watching the Nationwide race.   It was eery seeing that red ball called a sun.   Anyway there was a rain storm and if I hadn't woke up would have missed the carrier portion as the alarm clock needed resetting after power outage.  Only made two flights with the Bearcat.   Had a lot of fun seeing everybody again.  And I have an award with my picture to show for the effort.  My thanks to Bob Reeves,  his wife Pat and all the Gluedobbers for a great day.    H^^

By the way Elwyn sent some great pics of the carrier flying.  Thanks Elwyn.
