Not C/L, but airplane related... Radial Pickup
« on: June 29, 2016, 10:55:38 AM »
Perhaps "Engineering" is the more appropriate forum, or maybe "Building Techniques"...  Mods, feel free to move as you see fit.

There is that expression about idle minds being the devil's workshop.  In this instance I think the minds were anything BUT idle, yet the work was clearly accomplished in the devil's workshop just the same.

I love it.  But I couldn't afford the fuel and would need a trailer to haul the planes. LL~ LL~

     Hello:

What is the name of the starting system or starter used in this film?

The radial engine in the Plymouth pickup truck has an electric starter.

Obviously not practical, no cooling and it appears solid mounted, horsePower for the R755 cu in is only 245 but huge torque. My partner and I had these on the Cessna T-50 Crane ( USA bobcat), very nice running and reliable engines.

Maybe a 45 blank cartridge would start a Fox 35. LOL. Pretty neat trick with the pickup. I have a picture of a Rotac radial in a motorcycle. If you build it they will come.
