Stone age weather prediction machine
« on: October 13, 2013, 04:21:37 AM »
Hi Guys,

With very unusual wind in Johannesburg South Africa for a number of months now, I have reverted to wind websites before venturing out to the club. This morning I found some photos of this gadget below on a local paragliding website and had quite a good chuckle out of it, so I thought that I would share it. Enjoy!

That is funny. Since I live in Kansas we use to claim that we used a "Texas" windsock which was a log chain on a pole. If it was standing straight out we would fly, if it was snapping links off we would not fly. The people of Kansas are windy too.  y1

Wish I could find the cartoon that one of the Shawnee Radio Control Club modellers sent in to the AMA and was published.  It show all the guys sitting at the wind sock pole.  The wind sock was hanging straight down..  Word was they could not fly as there was no wind.
