Title: Minature clevis for Nobler
Post by: Bob Reeves on December 28, 2006, 05:03:07 AM
Not enough room in the rear of an ARF Nobler for a full size UHP clevis so I made a miniature version. This actually started life as some sort of steel RC clevis I picked up in my travels. It had a 4-40 screw all the way through the fork, not sure what it was used for. I inserted a 4-40 screw, brazed it in place then cut it off to give me a solid fork.

Used a 1/16 pin and 2-56 screw. Only problem is the pin and screw are so small they will be easy to loose. Think I will epoxy a small magnet in the rear of the Nobler to catch the parts when I drop the little buggers. All this because I only wanted an access hatch on one side, I would have used a Sullivan Gold but would have needed to get access to both side to adjust it. Is this silly or what....  ;D

That looks pretty durable for that little narrow gap! Good job!

That clevis is made by "Ultra Hobbies" and was available and still may be available thru Central Hobbies. There was a button head screw (4-40) that held a stepped 3/32 pin in the clevis. Nice units but usually to large for C/L use. I have a couple left in stock.

Looks  a lot like a BU-BRO clevis it too has a 4-40 screw thru it . I have used them for a number of years. It is also threaded 4-40 on the long end so it can be screwed onto a 4-40 bolt.

That is exactly what it started life as... Couldn't remember..

Can't imagine what they would be used for in stock form, the 4-40 screw is threaded all the way through and who would use screw threads for any kind of a bearing surface.

I would start manfacturing the small clevis but it took me 4 hours to make one.
