I have friend living near Milpitas, Ca who is interested in going to watch some C/L activity, with some encouragement might possibly pick up the handle after long layoff. Please let me know of any flying activity in his vacinity.

You might want to ask Brett Buck, who is on this forum. If I am not mistaken, he hails from California. While I am aware it's a big, diverse state, he may have some info.

Lyle,
You might try the Alameda Areo-Nuts
They are flying at the Bill Osborne Field in Alameda on the 6 TH. It's a pot luck and flying session.
Randy Bush info.; rbush88@juno.com
That's the closest place I can think of for you to fly/spectate.

Milpitas is right across the Bay from here, I can see it out the window.
Alameda on Saturday morning is a good suggestion. We have a session at the Stunt Farm in the central valley this weekend, but this is at a private residence, and not mine, so I am hesitant to invite other people to someone else's party. It's also a good solid 2+ hours. There are typically sessions in the middle of the week at Napa, but I am not involved with those, still being gainfully employed and they are randomly-scheduled to correspond to David's off days.

I live about half a mile from the Osborne CL field in Alameda. We fly most Sunday mornings and the retired guys often fly on Wednesday mornings. It is a City of Alameda Park devoted solely to CL flying, with a recently-repaved circle and concrete center pad. The field would be about a 30 minute drive from Milpitas. We would be pleased to welcome any new members. If you need equipment or more-or-less reliable advice, our group the AeroNuts can provide it. Send me a pm for more info if desired.

And there's a contest coming up near davis: https://stunthanger.com/smf/open-forum/meet-n-meat-22/ He might attend that to give him a sample of the sort of crowd he'd be associating with before he commits.

Buyer beware. 😂😂😂

Milpitas, CA used to have a nice free flight field. It was just a short drive from my home in Los Altos. After some flying, we used to visit the nearby McDonalds for hamburgers "5 for a dollar." Sadly, that field is now covered by expensive dense housing.
