Hello,
Late last week Mike Scott went to the dr. with what he thought were major Flu like symptoms.
Well, tests and monitoring has revealed much more.
The initial dr. heard fluid on the lungs and an irregular heart beat and had him admitted into the hospital.
From there it was determined over the next few days of tests he is suffering from several issues all at once.
A-fib
Congestive Heart Failure
SARS
He is also a long time diabetic.
He is currently on some meds to keep the heart rate and blood pressure steady and get away from the A-fib symptoms (upper half of the heart beats faster than the lower half).
SARS symptoms have been going for about a week now so it should run its course in the next week or so. But he cant have any contact with anyone who isnt wearing a HAZMAT uniform.
In a tiny way catching SARS was a blessing. It made him feel bad enough to go to the dr. and they found the heart issues.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
I talked to his wife today and I heard him in the background asking when were going flying. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Wow! That's rough news.....please give him my best.....
-
Thanks for the update.
Mike's daughter, Amy, called me when she was enroute to the hospital. Mike had just been admitted. At that time we kept his condition quiet because we really knew very little.
I talked to Mike yesterday and they were still doing tests. They were starting to stabilize everything with his blood pressure and heart problems. I then talked to Bob Hunt and we put Mike on the prayer chain.
-
Doug, tell Mike he's on my prayer list as well as the FCM prayer chain. Mike is one of the good guys in our hobby.
Keep us informed please.
Blessing

Mike is a great guy, I hope he recovers soon

I just talked to Mike's wife. He was transferred to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where they better equipment to analyze his condition. They are really great there. They certainly took great care of me when I had my heart problem almost 2 years ago.
Mike is still on IV drip and they are still looking at other problems, including readings on the liver. They are hoping that all the items can be controlled with proper meds. He could possibly be home by Sunday, but nothing is certain yet.
Pricilla thanks everyone for their concern. She says that you can call her for more info. Contact me for her number want it.

Thanks Doug AND Tom for letting us know. Mike is in our prayers.

Hello,
I got a text from Mike today,
"52 degrees, winds at 3.5 and I am stuck inside..." That's Mike, always watching and thinking about flying. A CLPA guy through and through.
He is in good spirits today and feeling very good and rested. Still in the hospital and they are coming up with a plan to get things all back on track.
-
I just got a message from Mike. Here is his the exact quote:
"Just got word from the docs. Not SARS, but Corona virus. They say no worries about it, but the AFib is the concern. Tomorrow is prayer day, going to shut me down and re-start with electric shock. Just letting you know".
-
I hope either Tom or Doug tells Mike that I said "Get Well Soon!"
-
Give my best to Mike. Sounds like he will conquer this soon and get back to flying.
I had serious A Fib for about 6 years. It can be very debilitating. They fixed mine with surgery called Cardiac ablation. Literally burning the inside of the upper portion of the heart in selective areas with a lazer. Worked like a charm. No problems for over 5 years.
Best of luck Mike!

Hi Doug and Tom,
Thanks for the news! I met Mike at the NATS years ago. A really great guy to know! Please tell him he is in my prayers and I am sure the Docs will straighten everything out. And tell him to get well soon and that I hope to see him soon!
Thanks!
Bill

Have faith in the Doc's Mike. They can do wonders for the heart with meds or a pacemaker. They will also do at least a twice a year evaluation of how the device is working if you are fitted with a pacemaker.
Get out of the hospital quick and have a good quick recovery.

Just talked to Pricilla. Mike's heart is back in rhythm after the shock. However the heart is weak. He is still in recovery so there is to e told. Thankfully that part is over. We don't know about future treatments yet.
-
Just got the text as well. Heart back in sync and he is ready to eat and go fly! ;D ;D ;D
-
That's good news. Praying for you to have a quick and full recovery
-
That is great news.
-
Best news yet!!!!!
I just got a text from Mike. He is on his way home! They have him on blood thinners and things are going good!
-
Yahoooooooooooooooo, #^ way to go Mike. Mind the doctors and we'll see you in the circles.

I have to say Thanks for the well wishers. Thanks for all the Prayers.....I could actually feel them.
To have all of this start with Flu like symptoms and then escalate as far as it did is just a reminder
that we should all get checked every now and then. The A-fib is gone for now and that was the biggest
thing. The heart weakness will take care of it self with the right exercise, diet and Meds.
Again, Thanks for the Prayers and the calls. Hope to see everyone soon!
-
Great news, Mike! Hope to see you at VSC-28.
-
I am on my fourth pacemaker and I'm still kicking. I doubt I'll see my fifth.
-
Great news Mike, Hope to see you at VSC.

Great news Mike and I hope to see you all in the Lone Star State some time. Now follow doctors orders so we can keep you around.
-
Glad to hear your feeling better Mike! I'll be ready for some
more of your coaching this spring!!
See you soon, Steve
-
mike,
I was wondering what happened to you...haven't seen you since you left for Houston. I thought it was just too cold!! Got the cardinal repaired...looks better than before, what with covering all the buggers up with striping tape ;D
I know you don't like the cold but can't wait to fly with you again...
-
Thanks again everyone, Doctors appointments starting next week, so we will see how the Meds are working with me, and how I am keeping up with them. What is unusual for me is that, I feel fine and am glad this is only a warning.
I hope to back in full building mode next week.
And Chris you are right..... I don't fly much in cold months, I don't like flying with cloths on my arms, to restrictive
see you soon
Mike
