Title: Midwest Warbird Plans
Post by: Mike Griffin on September 27, 2010, 03:51:04 PM
If anyone might happen to have a plan of an old Midwest Warbird kit, would you mind posting it if you can. I would like to see the dual pushrod setup on the plan.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike
I may have a set of plans for Midwest P-40, I have P-40 that is from 1979 build that I still fly.

I can tell you that the pushrod for the Flaps is in the outer hole on perfect 3" bellcrank and the elevator rod is in the next hole in towards bushing.

With O.S. .35s it needed close to 3oz of tail weight so recently I rebuilt the nose shorter and hit it almost dead on the money with no tail weight.
The weight reduction help a lot! current weight is 42oz.  36-38 would make a great flier!
I do not remember how much it was shortened although remember that the rear engine mount bolts were past the hardwood bearers by some small amount.

The throws at the control surface I have no idea of total deg of movement as over the years have moved them all over the place.

Will dig in the big box for plans as soon as possible but do not think I kept them. HB~>
