I know that Walter Umland kitted the Magician and I think Brodak has one also.

The Brodak kit is the smaller original Magician. Not the larger Midwest version. Plans are available several places for the Midwest version but I don't know of any one kiting it. I have scratch built four of them and still have two. It is a great flying plane with no surprises. Doc Holliday has built the original one so he could tell you about it.

The Baby Magician as published in Flying Models is an exact scale down of the Magician as originally designed by Jim Silhavy with development help from Bob Gieski. I have his letters and photos to verify that. It was better than the Midwest or Brodak versions. Kit manufacturers made modifications for economic reasons that degraded performance. Veco was especially a culprit making the kit fit the box. Sterling is supposed to have been bad about that too.

Scale up too 35 size model and you will be a really happy guy. Or get a set of parts for the Baby from RSM and have an outstanding small model! Despite an overrun, Scott Dinger flew one to second place at our Toys for Tots contest last week.401 points without landing, appearance or flight completion scores! I was judging, so it was as honest a score as I can do. John Wright got a 498 to win.

Really a great basic design, BTW it does NOT need flaps, the tail is too short for them to work well. If you must try flaps, move the stab all the way back on the fuselage.

Yes Jim I have the Original Magician kit I got from Walter still in the box.   When I got the Brodak .25 he had the kit available that I got from Bob Brookins.   It is a great flying airplane.   Some where in my stash have the Midwest kit version plans that I built the kit when it came out many years ago.   Went to 3/16 stab with stock 1/8 elevators as the guys stated to do back then.    H^^
