I was informed late this afternoon that the Branchburg RC field, the original venue for this year’s contest will be closed for all types of model airplane flying, including control line, due to the local TFR. Thanks to our friends at the Garden State Circle Burners we will be holding the contest at their Lincoln Park field located (for GPS Purposes) at 255 2 Bridges Road, Lincoln Park, New Jersey. Hope everyone can make it.
If you have any questions, I can be reached at 908-334-7579.

That's a bummer Jim. The Branchburg RC field is a fantastic flying site.

Yes, it is. Had many conversations with the AMA and the Park, but the local FAA made the call. I guess they don't know that control line is exempt from the TFR's.

Well, in spite of all the difficulties with the TFR and with the help of a lot of people, the annual Middlesex Stunt Contest was a great success. Special thanks to the Garden State Circle Burners for letting us use their field on very short notice, and to all the judges. The weather turned out to be beautiful, and the turnout was great. The results have been posted in the results section. Should have some photos available shortly.

Jim,
Once again you guys held an excellent contest! What else could you ask for good people, good flying, and pizza!!!!!!
Thanks again

You guys put on a wonderful contest, thanks for hosting. Rich Martinez took a bunch of pics and I'm certain you'll have them shortly. I was "moved" at Dan Banjock's incredible generosity at the awards presentation. Dan is unselfish ,and a great guy.
As a side note I just want everyone to know that I'll be petitioning the OTS rules committee regarding proper attire for flying OTS. Leather helmet, flowing silk scarf, and goggles will be required!

Thanks Skip. Well done in Intermediate by the way. You do know you need to show more enthusiasm LL~

Yo,if you're not having fun....what's the point? I love this stuff.....PhillySkip

Doc, it would be my pleasure to meet everyone here on the forum.....I'm actually much better looking in person, Rich Martinez (my publicist...hehe) got me from my bad side!
Randy, I'd love to come out to Tucson one of these days and fly in the Vintage contest. I've got a boat load of ships that qualify. Maybe one day....

Then the west can experience the magic of Mr." Showtime" himself! Skip is having fun and also flying pretty darn good too!
With all the obstacles Jim and co. did a excellent job and put on a great contest.
Thanks GSCB!
We need to really pressure the AMA to get the TFR's straightened out...... Yes , we know control line and free flight are exempt but the FAA doesnt!
Thanks Tom

Tom
I recently spent three hours with an FAA guy (drones) and he (and apparently his co-workers) knows that CL is exempt.....the issue is more likely local law enforcement....they receive NOTAMS and lump all airmodeling into the same class.
Arguing doesn't do much good....
The GSCB guys had a similar issue with the local cops because of their proximity to Teterboro.....local cops were misinformed but, guess what? They won the ensuing argument.
Have fun.

Not to drift the thread too far off course but, my understanding was it was the local fAA that made the call. The AMA was scheduled to have an emergency meeting regarding the decision. I just want to make everyone aware and to keep pressure on the issue. Quite simply, a demo flight would be worth a 1000 words.
Thanks Tom

Tom thanks for the really kind words. In truth, I'm flying better because of guys like you,Jim V, and ALL of the other judges I've flown in front of who have expressed positive, constructive criticism. Next season I'll move up to Advanced. I'll really need to "step up" my game both in my model making and in my piloting skills. I'll have to retire my trusty ARF Noblers, but they have served me well and I'm sure next year's ships will be ready for more "Showtime" antics. These last two seasons have been a wonderful experience.....PhillySkip
