Metal Tank Baffles
« on: January 01, 2007, 09:09:17 PM »
Guys,
I'd like to make a metal tank 5 7/8 long, 2 1/8 wide, and 1 1/4 high. I feel that I need an internal baffle to keep the engine from cutting out in the clover. My main concern is the 1 1/4 high. I made a metal tank that was 1 1/4 high and it would cut out in the clover. I replaced it with a plastic clunk tank. I assumed that it was too high. All the other tanks that I made was either 2 or 2 1/8 at the most and worked very well. My question is where should the baffle be located? I've seen drawings of baffles being across the 2 width and about 1/4 of the way from the rear of the tank. I've thought of running a baffle alongside of the "wedge". Anybody have any definitive data on what would be the best baffle. I like to use a metal tank because I prefer to use a cutoff loop and it can't be done with a clunk tank. Thanks in advance.

The old Veco tanks I used to use had the baffle run length wise.  There was about a 3/8 inch gap.  DOC Holliday
