Do any of you guys remember a serial that ran on the Micky Mouse show back in about 1956 that involved carrier flying. I remember a scene where the kid is carrying a very broken model of a Corsair; please tell that its not a figment of my imagination.

Yes the Mickey Mouse Club did have a series about two teen age boys.  One of the shows did involve model airplanes, but, I thought it was a combat match.  I know I was in love with Annette and Darlene.  DOC Holliday

I don't remember the story about the plane. Wish I did. Perhaps it has been archived somwhere and could be brought to light. I think it would be worth seeing.

I got curious as I tried to catch every episode of the Mickey Mouse Club.   Anything and almost everything you ever wanted to know about MMC is at:    www dot originalmmc dot com/. 

There was a series called, "I Want To Be".  This series was taking a couple of youngster thru the airline business.  On the way they attended a model plane meet at "Fairmont School".  Two teams listed,  "Sky Wolves" and "Fast Club".  Only two events listed,  Combat and Carrier.  I just wonder if any of those youngsters are still flying those planes?  Having fun,  DOC Holliday

PS:The two young men I thought of were Spin & Marty.  They were not in this series. jeh

Absolutely. It continued through those crazy beach movies also. I was sad when she announced that she had MS. If I remember correctly, she said she didn't want people to think she was drunk when she had trouble walking. Great lady.

Annette Funicello (sp?) had a great impact on a LOT of male young'uns back in the day.  One of the few names of *stars* that I really remember from then.

   Annette was somewhat before my time but she has always been a class act.

Annette Funicello was indeed an object of interest to all of us. I remember seeing guests being Honorary Mouseketeer and thinking I'd rather just be a regular Mouseketeer.

Of course, Annette really bloomed in all those beach movies, where Frankie Avalon was always her beau. And recall that Annette always wore a full bathing suit that concealed her navel, while all the other girls were in bikinis. And, wow, what TERRIBLE movies those were, though I'll confess that Eric Von Zipper was my favorite character.

The great sadness is that Annette contracted multiple sclerosis and lost her vision, was confined to a wheelchair by 2000.

I beleive I read somewhere that Walt Disney had a hand in her wearing full bathing suits in her movies.  She was the ultimate girl next door.  DOC Holliday
