Is there anyway to determine who a member is via his AMA number, or vice/versa?

True but they may not give it to you.

I heard the best way was to approach your area rep through your club president and a reason why you need it. Let him contact AMA, then forward the info to you.

Another way is to ask here about a specific number. Perhaps the person will answer or perhaps someone else knows the person.

No, nothing like that. Actually, not a big deal. We can move on.

The AMA Web site has a cool feature where you can enter a name and AMA number, and it will tell you if that person's membership is up to date. It enables CDs to check advance contest entries, but it will also help identify a member via his number. You have to guess, though. I think it only gives you a hit if you enter both a name and the number with which it goes.

Thanks Howard. I'll give that a try.
Update...Not sure where to look.

That's how they control privacy, I doubt you'll get very far. Another thing you might try is to contact AMA and give them the number and request the information. They may in turn contact the person and ask if they can divulge their name. I did this once suspecting a stolen model on Ebay, turns out the member was deceased.
