Has any one had any experience with these engines for Stunt? I am particularly interested in experience with their .28 RC which may be converted to Control Line usage. I'd be interested in any input on this subject. Thanks in advance for whatever you might contribute!

Don't know anything about the .28 you mentioned but the HP 40 Gold cup can be turned into a first class stunt engine without many changes.
I've used one in the past very successfully and one won Classic Stunt at VSC in 20 16 flown by the HP master Bob McDonald!
I'm not too sure how good the quality of the MECOA ones are but know they can build a good engine if they are so inclined!

The K&B Sportster .28 is a great motor for general CL flying. I originally got one to put on Samuels Rugged Stunt Trainer after seeing one on a friends plane. We now own 5 of them. You can find really cheap used ones on Ebay or at RC Swap Meets. New ones aren't that pricey either IMO. Oh, they are really quiet too with the muffler installed. I've had people think I was flying electric.

I use 2 of the older Mecoa 32's in combat planes. Mostly a copy of a OS 25- 30 with ball bearings. Runs about the same I like them.
Parts supply was a problem, waited for a long time for parts, many promises late deliveries.
Cylinder was hard chrome. Engines were a positive experience. Not a positive experience with the service and support.

The current MECOA price for CL version Sportster .28 is $79 and stock shows good
Bob Jablonski at County Line Hobbies has them for $89
either way a good engine for the price...I have two that run well
May put one on a RST if I prang the a OS 20/25s on one of my 3 RSTs
Both came already set up for NVA venturi as CL engines
I have no illusion for future parts for them and expect these will be also discontinued like all other good low cost CL offerings

Many Thanks for all of your input! I've tried to sell my .28 for a very long time without ANY interest! So in light of the comments above I've decided to mount y engine on an appropriate plane and find out how it runs! They appear to have been very well made with fine fits all around!
Thanks Again,

Phil,
They take some running in to get the best performance out of them. 5/22 is fine and treat the engine somewhat like a 4 cycle. I run an 11 inch on mine that is nicely broken in on a primary force and it can do the pattern on a little less than 4 ounces. Run is steady and the cut is clean. What more can be asked of it. Oh it is also easy to make it run quiet. Treated correctly they can outlast all of us older flyers. If you can find a Fox 25BB venturi assembly it is a perfect fit, Otherwise get in touch with Jim Lee, he did a few engines for me.

I've never been successful in ordering online from them. I get a message that when shipped the billing will be processed. I never get billed and I never get anything. They have some new hot plugs that I wanted to try.

They have always shipped their glow plugs with no problems or delays. The Fuji 4 cycle plugs run like OS 4 stroke plugs.

I have heard that story over and over again. I wouldn't order anything without calling first and verifying that they have the item in their hand right at that moment. They advertise many things but most of them say in tiny print somewhere "do not order this, we might make it someday". I *haven't* heard anyone actually losing real money, so it's not scam, and no one seems to be crooked. But you aren't ever going to get a new Hassad Blue Streak.
I think it's a one-man operation with ambitions far beyond the capability to deliver. One of those things where someone notices that they can buy, for instance, the entire assets of K&B, wow, that's cheap, and then the reality (i.e. someone else tried to make this a viable business and failed...) sets in.
The engines people have actually gotten are fine, by the way. The Veco 19 seems to be as good as the original, with the exception that it doesn't come with the original muffler or any way to attach it - which makes it hard to use in the year 2016.

I too have purchased items from MECOA with no problems. H^^

I love my K&B .61 Stunt from MECOA. I've been doing business with MECOA for many, many years, R/C and C/L. No real problems.

Many Thanks for all input! My engine is a double ball bearing MECOA .28 with muffler mounts as in OS. It appears to be top quality with fine workmanship no warts! I'll put it to use once I am back to good shape physically.

Not to derail this thread, but I too have been watching intently as well because I just picked up a MECOA .15 Wildcat. It is good to hear that these are decent engines overall.
