The Loss of a Grandson
« on: May 01, 2017, 04:27:36 PM »
I wanted to make everyone aware of a post today in facebook by Coral "Buzz" Brodak, the wife of John Brodak:

"I am sorry beyond words to tell you that our grandson, Alex Curtis, was taken from us this morning. I was and still am so proud of  the respectful, loving young man. He was 22 years old, college student, and National Guard Military man. He held two jobs and was such a hard worker. Our family is devastated."

I cannot imagine losing a younger member of my family. Some of you have had to face this horrible reality. Whether you know the Brodak family or not, this is the time to reach out and offer our condolences. You can find Coral on facebook under Coral Welsh Brodak. John of course can be reached at Brodak Manufacturing.

Thank you

I tried to access the facebook pictures. facebook requires you to have a facebook account to access them. You do know what facebook can do. Hell will freeze over first.

Sorry, I wish I could help. I will try and speak to Sandy tomorrow to see how to send messages of condolences.

My heart goes out to them. After having lost one son and three grandchildren, there is just no words to describe the pain.

How sad. I know from experience. It seems that children passing before parents seems to run in our family. It's just not right.  :'( Steve

Alex was a genuinely "good kid"
I had a lot of fun working with him when he was around 8 years old, flying model rockets.
I also taught him how to fly control line. It was a bit rough - he went through three or four planes before he got the hang of it.
You can see where he drilled an almost new Fox 35 (mounted on a Brodak Tomahawk) straight into the concrete. Believe it or not, the engine was fine and we flew it on another plane the same day!
After I restored Windy's Sweeper, I took a couple of photos of Alex holding it.
He was a bit small for his age.
I took him up in my Piper a number of times - he really enjoyed flying a full size aircraft.

He'll be missed.

Bob Z.
