Me 210A-1 Brodak WWII Combat Model

A lot of my time before Brodak’s was spent trying to finish the Me 210 shown below and repairing the Me 109 that got damaged in last year’s WWII combat event. Both were finished but did not fly do to an accident at the hotel which ended up in the emergency room for several hours. No perminent damage but I did not feel up to flying.

On July 4th a number of us, Metrolina Control Line Society members, flew at Huntersvill, NC, Waymer flying field, as part of Watt Moore's annual 4th of July fly In. Got to fly the Me210 and it started and flew well with no problems other than needing some trim adjustments.

I have always been interested in German WW2 weapons and the Brodak WW2 combat event provided the motivation to build a semi-scale twin engine model. The desert colors are stricking and found a picture of a Me 210 in Africa. Those unit markings were copied on my model

First time building and flying a twin and it worked out great . There are no full size plans as everything was scaled up or enlarged from an Aeromodler scale drawing (2898) that I have had for a long time

Click on Additional Options and Click on the "Browse..." button.
Select the picture you wish to attach and click save.

Suggestion, prior to starting, use a software like "PIXRsizer" to reduce the size to 600 x less than 600 or less than 600 x 600.  This gets the picture to fit on a regular computer screen.  It also prevents the text from running way across and off the edge of the screen.

Howard’s Me-210 project may not make much sense to those unfamiliar with Brodak WWII Combat. A twin engine combat plane doesn’t seem like a desirable “weapon”, considering the rules on air time, and the risk of flying part of the flight “one engine out”.
       The Brodak WWII event is unique, in that the flyers generally are more interested in “putting on a good show” than in normal combat cut-throat competition. The usual fierce, aggressive flying; line tangles; and mid-airs are put on the back burner for this event.

Both the Me-109 and the Me-210 have removable gears for combat, but the gears are used for sport flying. Actually, I think Howard flew the Me-109 last year with the gear still intact, not sure.

Anyway, a big “thanks” to John Brodak for putting on this event, and to the competitors for keeping the event from becoming a “win-at-all-costs” event.

Great to see you again and hang out around the combat circle at Brodak's. I hope you are feeling better now.
Hopefully the weather will be good for next year's WWII combat at Brodak's. Especially since you and Paul Smith
duked it out in 2009's downpour!!

I was there for  the maiden flight, a little trimming and it will be a super flyer, looks like a good stunt model too , Plenty of good reliable power ,

Howard says he's a combat flyer, but ,,    .. landing gear , twin engine  ,  flying on pavement , hat on backwards ...   looks like a stunt flyer in the picture

Good looking planes for combat flying, but, with the rules that I seen, someone is trying to get some spectators to watch.   Scale looking planes that I hope don't go that fast and two up flying.  I may even build one as I loved combat when it was slow enough for me at the time.  Never had enough practice time.   Did I mention I like the twin!
