I only flew on Sunday. We had pretty nice weather. Literally one minute after the last flight we had a good little downpour.
The field is very nice. Much improved over the 20 degree slope it had last time I saw it.
I have seen the light, and it’s powered by a lipo.

We flew OTS on Saturday along with Profile. I think they flew beginner profile and had a few successful flights I don't know the scores. They flew intermediate profile, not sure how many flights got in. In OTS it was like flying in a constant micro burst. The wind started at about 15 mph and went up to around 22 mph by the time I flew. It was a challenge to get off the ground. Several guys had the tail just blown up and caused the nose into the grass. Wayne Smith flew his E-Ringmaster and got a full pattern (1st place), Eric Viglione flew a Fox 35 powered All American got a full pattern (I called the pattern for him using cell phone and Bluetooth ear piece, worked very good) and took 2nd, I flew my Fox 35 powered El Diablo, got in everything except inverted flight (just plain forgot it, I should have had Eric call my pattern) and took third.

Besides the ship being constantly blown down (you couldn't gain any altitude going down wind, would just mush) landing was very very difficult. Several ships got caught by a strong guessed, lifted 15 ft up and dropped into the ground, some sustained damage.

The only landing approach I know for these conditions is to fly low and once the engine quits (for IC they mostly quit going down wind) walk quickly toward it to kill off the airspeed and fly it down to the ground before it gets into the wind, works unless it quits just before dead down wind or later.

All in all the new circle was very good, confortable temperature, great people (and food) and good fun competition. Had a great time, I understand Sunday was suppose to be bettler winds.

Best,   DennisT

Hi gang,

Here are some photos from last weekend's "Spring Fling" at the MCRC field in Ellenton, Florida.
Unfortunately, I don't know the names of the owners, but if you do, please feel free to fill in the info.

Enjoy.

Cheers.

And more.   The last two shots are of Wayne Smith's "Tracer", that the "Smith Brothers Stunt Team" has finely tuned over a period of years.  The plane and
Wayne both are excellent....very smooth flying combo.

This "Tracer" started out life with an IC engine, but all of their aircraft have been
converted to electric, and the brothers have them tuned to perfection.

They were gracious enough to let me fly one of their "Tracer" some time in the past.  I couldn't believe how easy it was to fly.  Absolutely the best CLPA plane that I have ever had the privilege of flying....thanks guys.

And check out the cowl work that was done in the closeup.  It was designed for IC, but it still looks cool (no pun intended) with electrons doing the work.
