McCoy Mufflers
« on: January 18, 2016, 01:05:29 PM »
Hello!

I have several McCoy engines (.19, .29. .35) which could use a muffler.  Any suggestions? I tried connecting with Scott Dinger last year, but was unsuccessful.  Thanks!

If you are looking for a tongue style muffler,  Brodak carries one for the 29 and 35.  TM-20.

I made my own. I bootlegged this style from another modeler. Not as nice but it works.

My bootlegged muffler on the P-40 and the other is the one I coppied. You can see the difference. Like I said, mine isn't as nice, but it works.

Rolled aluminum and a cap.

A bit of work but the results are worth it.

You can go "period correct" and find a Tatone Peace Pipe. I flew many a McCoy .35 on one in the day. Not fun.

I'm flying the same size Big Art tongue muff on the 35RH & 40RH. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the 36 Super Stunt.

I need to make one of those too.

I need to make an airplane for the particular McCoy first though... or something.

Yes, there's no doubt about that, Scott Riese does make great mufflers. Outstanding in fact.  H^^

I'm one of his many customers.

Here's two photos of Scott's excellent work.

you can personal message him on here, ,I think he even has a section in the vendors corner,,

I talked to him, but he felt like if he pounced in here it would seem like he was trolling for business, so look him up here,, and he will hook you up

Thank you!  Could not find out how to PM on the forum here.  I tried an old e-mail address, but it got bounced back to me.  Scott, would you mind private-messaging me instead? Thanks!

Scott also has teflon buttons for the crank, and assorted gaskets and other stuff. And a super nice guy to deal with.

Just repeating what's already been said.  Scott made me some tongue mufflers for LA engines and they were quickly done, work well, and look great!
