Stuck at home - Free CBS all access - Star Trek
« on: April 08, 2020, 06:57:38 AM »
Guys,
My daughter found this link to CBS all access that has a 1 month free trail. You have to go through the sign-up process but when you get to where they ask for a Code - type in:  Gift. Since it is free for a month I selected the commercial free version. There is the full season of Star Trek - Picard and several others. This is a little different then the normal commercial channel in that it has adult language and suggested actions. I enjoyed binge watching it interesting story. The show is not a start to finish episode more of a book chapter by chapter arrangement. Anyway here's the link:

Remember to put the code: Gift   for the one month free and hopefully we will be out of the house by the end of that time.

Best,    DennisT

I watched Picard, I won't say anything but I liked it.

DISO was ok the first watch.  i just went through and watched it a second time and enjoyed it much more.  Can't wait for Picard season 2, and i REALLY hope they pull through and give us a Pike series!  they ACED the Enterprise in DISCO compared to the abrahm's abomination.

Great post Dennis!  I thought I was the only one who liked "Trek"  ;D (jus' kiddin')!!  I can agree, the show is awesome.  I was and am a fan of all the shows but I have a special affinity for Deep Space Nine and Babylon V.  The writers, producers and actors really did an excellent job of character development giving each character and strong, believable, individual and even flawed existence.   So far (I'm on episode 6), trying to stretch out my binging, and it seems like they are trying to develop their characters as well.  I'm trying to embrace this third evolution of Klingons but other than that ...  ;) ;) ;D ;D

I like it too  :)!  The idea/concept of "spore drive" is intriguing but a bit difficult to embrace because of the interrelation between organic with the inorganic or is it organic as well??   ??? :-\  Jus' pondering!!  ;D ;D

Getting all Trekied out it seems that ST Discovery is set just before the original ST series before Kirk is Captain (Chris Pike makes an appearance on DISC). They tell me that in season 2 of Disc they get the timeline straighten out and also why the ship still us WARP drive instead of SPORE drive. This will be interesting.

I just found that you can get to all the Star Trek series on this open access trial. Go to the top menu bar they have a tab for just ST. Maybe I can finally see the ending of ST Voyager, which I read is actually two endings. Enjoy.

Hey Dennis!  Yep, it's in two parts and it's really engaging!  I've been fortunate and over the past few years have re-watched the last 5 or 6 episodes to my total enjoyment.  I'm wondering where the show could have gone given the normal interactions of humanoid species with our myriad flaws, diplomacy, power, exploration and the quest for knowledge.  Love to hear your thoughts!

Jim,
Interestingly enough Seven of 9 makes a significant appearance in ST Picard, which seems to be set after Voyager's return. In Picard there is significant advancement of AI building on DATA. The advanced humanoid also have issues with politics, ethics and trust. Series is very interesting and set up for a season 2.

Wow!  Awesome!  This is and interesting bit of information you've brought to light for me.  I'd only seen the premiere show.  I look forward to watching all of this series as well.  Oh for the days of my old VCR where I could record the shows I loved and enjoyed and could rewatch at my leisure!!  Only recently was I able to access the CBS All Access network because our 2014-2015 48" Samsung LED TV is considered too old by them so we went out and bought a Amazon Firestick thanks to a recommendation from a friend.  Now we just have to deal with the little "spinning thingy" every now and then as it loads the show and segments.  It's tough being "cheap"!!   LL~ LL~

haven't they already?  The tardigrade was having the crap beaten out of it, and Starfleet doesn't allow the genetic manipulation required for people to do it (ala the eugenics wars)....?
