John Wright, back from VSC was covering the stab of a Tom Dixon Randy Smith Tempest (that's a mouthful) with silver Micafilm, and the top-right wing of a Jr. All American with modern film. Larry Renger has been working on two more new laser cut Coroplast (thank you Eric Rule of RSM) ET-1 trainers for the Imaginology Kids Fair where club members will be training kids in concert with the fine folks from the HSS Harbor Soaring Society of Costa Mesa. Mike Alurac went to Arizona and brought back 5 gallons of real lacquer thinner. Warren stayed home from VSC (Whaaaat?!?!?!) and has been spending his time building a new smoker and it is BITCHEN. End of story on that. Dinner was the inaugural meal from the smoker. Ribs and more ribs, pulled pork (2 butts), a pile of stuffed bacon-wrapped Ortega Chiles and Jalapeņo peppers, Yum-Yum! Home-made cole slaw, potato salad, BBQ Sauce. A custom Bundt Cake plus strawberry shortcakes and whipped cream for dessert. Food coma...
See you next time.

Sorry everybody. I tried to post the text+pictures TWICE last night and got an error both times (Session timed out - message body empty - something, something, something, in bright red letters). I thought NOTHING had posted. Apparently the text posted but not the pictures. Oh well. Stunt Hangar is broken.
On the bright side I never get this many replies when the post is PERFECT!!! Woot!!!!!
I'll try again. When I get a round "tuit". And some energy. And a chocolate.

Hey Paul. You can always use photobucket to host pics and link them to here. Real simple to use.

Darn,
I went to all the trouble of looking up a convertor to convert those files to something we can see, but when I got back from dinner - the files were no longer there! ''
Have they been removed from this thread?
Anyway, I think I can convert them if I remember the file extension correctly.

Paul, If you can find the time to post the pictures, there just might be some see's in your future.
As far as the BBQ goes, I was making a major mistake with my fire management.
I was trying to control the temp by restricting the amount of air going into the firebox. That was
causing very heavy smoke every time I would add a new piece of wood.
By opening up the air inlet, I got a much cleaner fire, and a nice light smoke, Now I can control
the temp by closing the damper on top of the stack and also by the amount of fuel. (Good old California red oak)
The BBQ is constructed from 1/4" and 3/8" steel plate, It's called a reverse flow stick burner.
The heat flows from the firebox under a plate that stops about 8" from the left edge, then the heat and smoke
returns through the main chamber and out the stack. the other advantage is you can put a water pan on the baffle plate
and it adds steam that helps tenderize, also you can use fruit juice and vegetables in the water pans for an additional flavor profile.
It took about 40 hours to build, this is going to be a great smoker with lots of fun mancave nights in our future.

I got a few of the photos to post. The forum keeps choking on a 94K image of Larry Renger's ET-1 and telling me my file is too big but it is NOT too big because 94K is WELL BELOW the 1000K file size limit. Very frustrating.

That is a beaut of a cooker Warren.....and I want some ribs now!!!! It will be a long drive for me from MN but for sweet meat and some handle time...it would be worth it. You fellers up there know how to live.
Last night I had fried chicken, greens, butter beans, hushpuppies, biscuits and shrimp and pig feet. Lemon Meringue pie. New Southern restaraunt here.

Should we start a separate BBQ forum? I'm in! How about it, Sparky?
Music is not my thing, but there are a lot of musicians here too. Maybe this could become the stealth enthusiast forum for related interests?
Let the great unwashed speak of their desires!

Don't be a winner
Sign up for beginner
Why fly Intermediate
That's because we needed it
You should enter the Bob Palmer
Then come eat meat like Jeffrey Daumer
(Eeeew. Best I could do on short notice...)
Larry Always inspires me.

My scores have been enhanced
So now I'm in Advanced
Flew intermediate and danced
when I won first place per-chance.
Did not want the finger wagging
and be called out on sand-bagging.
Was urged to skip beginner
Though I wanted to be the winner.
