WOW! is that a form tool, or are those the laminations of the prop? I bet these guys didnt worry when metal props made wood props go away. Check out thier hand tools too.

While getting the nickel tour of Kermit Weeks place in Ocala, he asked what do you think is the most valuable thing in the room. In the room were Mustang engines, vintage radials, etc. All kinds of goodies on pallets neatly on shelves. Most people pointed at the rack of engines. He said, Nope! Pointed to a rack of beat up looking old props and said "Those are all that's left to make copies of to run on some of the vintage engines"

I've got a WWI vintage metal (brass?) leading edge clad Flottorp (think Jenny) that someone made into a clock. Hangs on my wall, too cool for school. Too bad they chopped the diameter down a little, but it may have been a damaged prop in the first place.

Eric, where is the museum at in Fla? Is there a link for info on the museum? When I lived out of town about five years ago in Knoxville, there was a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 sitting behind a storage building near the airport. I commented to my wife " I would love to have that in my living room", the next week it went up for auction and I didn't know they were going to do that. Darn!!!! It was in very good shape also.

The guy on the right appears to be using a large shallow sweep fishtail gouge and a carver's mallet to knock off the alignment blocks and perhaps rough out the boards while the guy on the left is planing the blades to shape. Wonder if this was a "posed" picture, because the fellow on the left appears to be planing against the grain?

OK Fess up! How many cringed when they saw that gorgeous girl holding a Crescent wrench next to that prop?

I saw a TV cop show once in which a cop was undercover as a car mechanic under a car hood, but the bad guy spotted him as a plant and avoided the trap because the cop "mechanic" was using a pipe wrench!

Many moons ago Ray Hegy of Marfa, TX made the prop for our Breezy. His grandson is still making props.

This is me with the Breezy, passenger hopping at the EAA national fly-in.
