Title: Major reason for high thinner costs
Post by: Ty Marcucci on October 07, 2011, 08:08:49 AM
I just received an email from a club member that was informed by the folks he buys dope and thinner for his full size plane, that due to the regs by DEA, right, DEA, that MEK is being pulled from the shelves. MEK is an ingredient in thinner.  I assume they are making it more difficult for idiots to produce Methamphetamine.  D>K

I suppose this would now make us register our cans of MEK.....
Sad day when a bunch of morons who can think of any better way to kill brain cells forces the whole country to pay.

Well, I read that due to the EPA, by the end of the year all asthma inhalers will be required to be manufactured with a different medicinal ingredient. This was because the current ingredient supposedly causes ozone depletion!! My wife has tried the new inhaler and says she gets very little relief from it.

What BS.

While many of the former sellers of MEK are no longer allowed to sell it you can still buy it from many suppliers such as Aircraft Spruce.  They just have to have an appropriate certificate to be able to sell it.  The price of MEK has gone up a couple of dollars but it is still available.  Also I just bought a gallon of Randolph butyrate thinner from Aircraft Spruce & the invoice shows $25.40.  To me that is pretty reasonable.

You know, I'll betcha it's them dang libruls again! (This ship always lists to the right, doesn't it?) ;->

The coming ban on inhalers containing CFCs applies to over-the-counter medications; CFCs themselves are no longer manufactured in the U.S. - patients are advised to talk to their doctors to arrange prescription medications for replacements. (BTW, U.S. production of CFCs in commercial quantities was halted in 2000, so we must be finally running out?)

This is a side effect of the banning of CFC production in the U.S., which definitely had much to do with the ozone layer.. another unintended side effect, unless of course you assume our evil EPA has singled out asthmatic citizens with intent to harm them.

Frankly, I don't have a clue as to how we can stop the meth horror, when it can be cooked up in a plastic pop bottle in a motel room. Banning access to the ingredients doesn't seem to be very effective, and if they were all gone, the stuff is being made up en masse nowadays in Mexico and a half dozen other countries.

I know intentions are good, but remember that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Why doesn't the government take over the drug manufacturing and give the people what they want?  I am enough christian to say if the people want to kill themselves, have at it.   VD~

After reading the sheet on MEK I decided it's pretty advisable to stay as far away from it as possible.
