Title: Mackey Hotel Reservation

Any KOTRC officers in the audience? Larry?, Andy? Would you call the Doubletree Rosemead and confirm the arrangements that the  club has made for a special room rate for the Mackey Open. I've tried to book twice and they know nothing about it. Call is in to Eric but he is on vacation. Thanks! 8)

I don't, myself, have the contact information, but we should have a standard commercial rate. The corporate code is "P-13" if they can't identify it by the event name. Also invoke the name of Eric Rule, since he is the interface with them.

They have no listing of "P-13". I was told their codes are not in that format (!??!). I'll try again and mention Erics' name.

The rest of the story: Just got off the phone with a more informed hotel person. Mentioned Eric's name and she found the special rate agreement. The moral is: Don't ever underestimate the power of name dropping...or Eric Rule!

I tried dropping Eric's name at the local Round Table Pizza the other night. All it got me were some strange looks. So then I tried "Pete Cunha". That didn't work either.

Should have tried it at "Pete's Pizza", or don't they have those in Marysville?  But seriously, the Rate Type is listed as "Knights roundtable" on my reservation confirmation. Guess they didn't understand the circle part.  8)

When I have a problem with hotel reservations, I always tell them to check with Bruce Perry at "Magic Bus".  I usually end up with a serious discount, the Penthouse (complete with a brass pole), and a team of Jivettes. Works for me.  LL~ Steve 

PS: I do have to pay my own bar bill.
