Title: Lunch With Walter Umland.
Post by: Dick Pacini on September 25, 2014, 11:12:57 PM
My wife and I returned from our Florida vacation tonight.  Yesterday, we had the pleasure of a lunch invitation at Walter Umland's home.  I had contacted him several days before and we set it up.  I had never met Walter before, but we have spoken on the phone, swapped emails and I have bought several of his excellent kits.

Walter and his lovely wife and fine son were wonderful hosts.  After a great meal and some good conversation, I had the privilege of seeing Walter's shop.  It was breathtaking!  After that we3 went to his laser cutting room and I watched as Walter demonstrated the computer graphics required to generate laser cutting.  He cut a bunch of neat stuff for me out of plywood.

If you ever get a chance to meet Walter or talk to him, grab the chance.  Of course, his kits are beyond reproach.

I have talked to Walter many times in the past on the phone.   Have built several of his kits and have more to build.  What times I was in Florida could not talk the wife into let me call him while we were close.  He is one fine gentleman and make really great kits.

I've been to Walter's also, he is a great guy and you won't walk out empty handed. I promise if you stop you will buy one of his kits, they really are fantastic. Now if I can only stop crashing them?
