Phil,

The last time I went to Huntersville I went to the fish place after the day's flying. For lack of another place to go I parked overnight in the parking lot. Sunday morning there was no one else anywhere around. I have been told there is a Wal Mart across the interstate that does not mind you parking there. There is also a loop turn around at the road just past the field that I parked in on Friday when I got there and the gate was locked.

Someone from the parks department told me they don't allow anyone to stay overnight because of the mess that was made by someone in the past. They keep the gates locked at night now.

Try getting in touch with Artie Jessup from Va Beach area.  He may be a member here, I am not sure, but you can ask Steve Fitton, John Tate or Willis Swindell to get in touch with him. At Brodaks he was looking for the same information for Huntersville. Whether he scored or not I dont know.

Can't find anything close by and I don't want to strand Joyce in the RV all day long....so I think I'm gonna go to the Clanton, AL contest next week where I can park on site.

None of the people mentioned above are in our club Metrolinia and none live anywhere near the field. I did a quick search on Google and found a lot of RV parks close to Huntersville.  The Wallmart is only 5 miles from the field and its free. We are having our club meeting tomorrow and I will ask if anyone knows what RV place is close to the field.

No one at the meeting new of any sites close to the field. They did say some have stayed just outside the gate. The field is on a dead end road so there will be no traffic.Again Google brings up a lot of sites.

There is no problem with RVs on site during the day. As Ed mentioned, you can "unofficially" move just outside the gates at night -- unless too many others adopt the same strategy.

We have a new contract with the County starting next year, which gives the clubs more control of the facility. Hopefully, the RV parking will not be an issue in future years.

Wall Mart!!!!!

We stay in their parking lots often.
All night security and security cameras.

And a parking lot sweeper noise maker that comes by every 15 minuets alllllll night long.

Truck stops are quiter.
