Looking for a part.....
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:22:55 AM »
I am helping one of my friends finish a Windy 1998 Cardinal and he is looking for an adjustable insert for the carbon fiber pushrod back to the elevator. He thought the one he had was made by Bill Biles (possiably....from memory)
Do you guys know of something like that? This one went in the shaft and you adjusted it with a small wrench.
Thanks, Terry

Terry,

Not sure who makes/sells it; there is an item advertised in Stunt News that sounds similiar.  I will try to find exact specs for you.

Cheers,
Jim

Might try Central Hobbies www.centralhobbies.com  --they sell the titanium ends that fit inside the carbon fibre rod. They might also have turnbuckle type fittings.

Terry,

Hanger Nine makes titanium rod ends with combo left/right threads that I have used to do what you want to do.
Different lengths are available..........

Thanks Jim.
Terry
I used one in my Vector. Works really good, Word of caution Sand inside of rod before installing and use 2 hour epoxy. It does not have a very long expansion so be careful to get the most throw as posible. When I crashed the Vector the turnbuckle did not break but the glue job failed on one side. It is a good unit and I highly recommend it.

Leo, I have not had any luck contacting the manufacture. Where did you get your component from?

You can send "billbyles" a PM at SSW Forum, if you're a member there. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with Sparky or Little, Bill!  H^^ Steve
