Looking for a mentor
« on: August 11, 2011, 10:02:54 AM »
My neighbor's grandson is visiting. He's a 11 year old kid and is just nuts for model planes. Spent an hour in my shop last night and he was in heaven. He is very interesting in learning to build and fly planes. You should see some of the paper planes he builds. The kid has the touch. He lives in a small town near the North Carolina-South Carolina border. Nearest big town is Charlotte (can't remember the name of the town he lives in - 'something-ville'). So, who lives in the area? I would like to give him some names and numbers to call when he gets home.

The Metrolina Control Line Society is located in Huntersville, NC and there is a very nice field that we fly at that has 2 paved circles and one grass circle.  The park is called David B. Waymer park and there are a few of us that fly there pretty regular on weekends.  The club meeting is on the fourth Saturday of every month at 2 pm at the field.  We are hosting the F2C team trials on labor day weekend if he could come out then that would be great to meet some people and see some fast racing.  I will send you a pm with some info that you can pass along.  We are always looking for new pilots and would be happy to help in any way we can.
