Stunt News
« on: July 09, 2021, 02:17:59 PM »
Just came from the PAMPA site and read what few reports were there for Stunt News.   Looks like not too many reports as I only seen two district reports plus a couple of articles.   Am I doing something wrong as I'm a paid up member of both the AMA and PAMPA. ???

Hi Doc:

Al Hieger and I have volunteered to get a version of Stunt News up onto the PAMPA website. Our first postings were of District reports. We asked each of the District Directors to submit a report and photos. What you have seen on the website are the only reports we received.

Al and I are hoping to populate the website with a lot of how-to and feature article material. Problem is, both Al and I have had an extremely busy and chore-filled spring and summer. Stay patient and we will have a lot of stuff posted on the site fairly soon. I would help if the membership would contribute stuff for us to post..

Later - Bob Hunt.

The quality of "stunt news" is dependant on the the people in the channels and community Send in articles.

Ive written countless articles and its a thankless job. However part of the reasons S.H is so popular is the exchange of information.  It doesnt matter if your doing something for the first time, building your next top 5 plane or simply closing your wallet after acquiring your next one.

Stunt news needs articles sent to them. Its really simple.
If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee.

I realize I'm almost a "nobody" in the overall world of stunt, but I'm in the process now of writing an article detailing the design & build of a 3D-printed control line plane. It's in the early stages (was inspired by this thread) and I have no idea how long it may take. That'll be my contribution.

I'm also about to start up a home-based 3D-printing business geared towards us CL guys - line reels, handles, and perhaps my motor mounts. More details to follow.

With very few exceptions, no one is a "nobody" in stunt. Those that are persona non grata had to work at it pretty hard!

PAMPA and Stunt News relies entirely on volunteers to function - volunteers of *every* skill level and experience. We like it that way, generally. Anyone who has something to contribute and can express themselves well certainly should the opportunity to share their effects.

If you have something, just go for it! Sounds like a very interesting project.

I realize I'm almost a "nobody" in the overall world of stunt, but I'm in the process now of writing an article detailing the design & build of..

Any article is worth reading.. your doing the event your a part of the stunt family. Nobody is a name and everyone is a someone. Id like to read an article about a 3D printed plane.

I remember Mike Palko talking about running electric back in 2004 and I thought " what a crazy idea " because I saw the setup and it was weak ( FP25 power)  for its time, but he was 20 years ahead of many of those "names" you speak ok and development could come.

You could be on the cusp of the next 20 years of frontline stunt development in the 3D printing world.

I couldnt 3d print a full stop! Lol

Brett hit the nail squarely on the head here. I can attest to that statement being VERY CORRECT.

There is no elitism within anyone whom gets to the strong arm of the event. Everyone I personally know who is somewhat serious about stunt, does so with a personal drive to be better for themselves.

If your involvement in the sport is such that your willing to share YOUR findings,  then thats all the recognition one needs.

The idea that there are only "5 names" that hold weight and thus hold opinions worth listening to is only "half true"

The basis for this is that the "top guys " have done it all and thus anyone elses opinion have nothing further to add, again only "half true" .

Anyone and everyone has a valid voice and a fair opinion and  that voice has as much credibility if it holds ideas that are well thought out.

Even if you have only been doing it 2 years and you decided to write an article on Monokote finishes, if just 1 other person finds that information helpful then you have succeeded on that task.

Just because "brett buck" doesnt have interest in monokote doesnt matter, because someone else will.

What brett and other "nobodies" are doing when they come onto forums like this is to share information, share what they found worked grow the hobby nothing more.

Thank you both for the kind words. I will keep at it and keep everyone posted.

I have no clue how long the article may be (could be 1 very long article, or could be a series of 3 or 4 parts) or if my ideas will even work. One thing I'm aiming for is for the 1st plane to be a good, basic trainer to help introduce others to our control line world. That one is almost finished. Just a few details to work out (cut lines, weight box, and landing gear).

One cool thing about this experiment is everything can be printed - the plane, the landing gear, wheels, even controls (bellcrank & control horn). Of course, it needs to be electric due to IC vibrations. Truly something that can be printed and flown with the finish already on - probably won't win many appearance points, but should fly fine.

More to come.

Whoops!

I sent my District IV Report in last November or December and it still isn't posted.  I recognize that was before you, Bob, came on board so I'm not blaming you, but I want to set the record straight.  And it is incredibly frustrating to submit and see no result.  At the time I was told that they were "spreading  things out and not posting everything at once."  Still waiting....
