Yea, college is treating me well! This video is me getting a flight in a Pitts S-2B. I added some music to it for my own tastes.

I absolutely loved the aerobatics we did. Now, when I get my private license, I want to enter aerobatic competitions with this airplane, so long as I have an instructor in the back seat. I would need my tailwheel, high performance and complex endorsements, plus getting checked out in the Pitts to be able to fly on my own.

Now that's what I call higher education!!

Watch out, cause once the thrill of high performance akro gets its teeth into you, it won't let go. I learned akro in an S-2A, though never got good enough to compete in it. At your age you have plenty of time ahead of you, and with the airplane available, no reason why you can't make those aspirations a reality. The hardest thing about flying the Pitts is landing it. Little forward visibility, S-turns on approach right down to the deck. But holy cow, what a plane to fly!

Now you need to do akro in a jet. Imagine the Pitts with 2000 horsepower........!

I believe the high performance aerobatics has already sunk its teeth into me. It was the roller coaster of my dreams!!!

We slipped the Pitts in at 120mph from something like 400ft. That plane has like no glide to it

Hi Matt,
I think that is a task worth persuing

y1The Pitts is a real hoot to fly but wait until you take a ride in a Sukoi or an Extra.It will make you want the full size title even more.

Count me in on that! The Pitts was only rated to +6/-3.5Gs, so it's not the highest performing aerobatic airplane out there, but still a BLAST to fly nonetheless

Hey Matt, your video brought back memories from 25 years ago when I flew an S-2B. Not a cheep thrill ,but worth every dime. The time went by way to soon. Still, it was nice to crawl back into my 1959 C-182.

Just wait 'till they teach you spins! I did spin training in a Citabria. I walked away with my lunch in a bag on more than one occasion

By the way, Pitts can be built from plans. Considering that you know how to turn a bunch of wood sticks into something that flies good, you might as well apply your skills to full scale:

If I had $40,000 to toss around, I would consider it. I know a guy who built an RV-6 in his garage. I've seen it, it looks great!!

Oh I'm having wayyyy too much fun!!! I got a Vector ARF in the mail today too! So I'll be able to do some model airplane flying while I'm down here too! What's nice about this college is that I opened up the box to inspect it and everyone was impressed at its size and asked questions and want to see me fly it once it is ready to fly.

This weekend I'm heading to the airshow at Cocoa Beach! The F-22 is going to be there, along with the B-1B, and other awesome planes!
