Are they really closing shop with the balsa business? They had the best in my opinion. DOC Holliday
-
I hope not, Doc! I really don't want to lose Lone Star. I would like to see a sale on the remaining stock, and rebuilding! (heck, I would buy all I could AFFORD of damaged balsa!)
Please Mike, and Riley, come back!
-
While I've found other suppliers, I sure hope Lone Star comes back. I bought from them almost exclusively before the fire. I really hope they are able to regroup and reopen.
-
The last I heard is that Lonestar will not come back. But no one has really been in touch with Riley for a while.
-
I was in touch with Riley a couple of weeks ago, and he said that it didn't look like they were going to rebuild and get back in the balsa business. He DID leave a small crack in the door by not positively stating a flat no. Lets all hope

Here's one more vote for them to come back. :)

HI Bill Based on the photos of the remains of the shop, there was no remaining stock. Unless it was in a warehouse separate from the shop. D>K
Hi Ty,
12" here, 6" there all sizes......... LL~ LL~ I can use anything.......... especially 4-6 lb!! ;D

We stopped by last Friday. The building was pretty well cleared out. Very sad.

Have you guys gone to the LoneStar website and seen the pictures?
They pretty much answer the question. The place is a total write-off.
The investment required to repopen would be very substansial; and
that doesn't even include inventory. I just don't see how LoneStar
could restart basically from scratch and turn a profit in the next 20
years. This is truly unfortunate and sad, but is probably the truth in
today's economy.
