Ok, I know I should have seen stuff on Little Legends aircraft before now, but I didn't. Where can one get plans for these gems?

I know I had plans many years ago. Can't remember if I still have a copy
as I loaned them to a buddy who had a laser cutter. I'll check around the
house and see if I can locat them. My brother and I built a couple of these
planses, and they a re a hoot to fly! They really look good in the air.

I am looking for the plans...but I am intrigued by your question.  Kits/short kits?

Which plans do you have?

I just had a short "back and forth" with Roger Vizioli and it seems Walter is already on the case.
You guys need to convince Walter to kit these things, at least the Stiletto one! ;)

The Little Legends are great and I highly recommend contacting Walter Umland re. same.
If we can convince him to provide kits, they will be first rate!!!
And I agree with Les, he should do the Stiletto first, BUT, should do them all!

Walt did send me a message. Couldn't agree more guys about the Stiletto. Still my favorite airplane after all these years. I have the lost foam jig for the 35 size and am just waiting to get the Cardinal completed before I start on that one.

It was Steve Buso's idea to make the 1/2A profile replicas of the models in the series. He asked me if it would be okay to do my Genesis, and of course I said "yes!" He didn't have a name for the series and I suggested Li'l Legends. He love that idea and went ahead with the series. They are all on one plan.

Guys-

I have a great news update for the fans of these 1/2A Little Legends!!

I spoke to Walter Umland on the phone this evening, and he said that he does have the files for cutting kits for the 5 planes listed above, and the plans.
He said that the original guy that set this up had visions of selling the "super kit" to include all five of these planes, and that the interest in the past has been minimal.
What he wants to do is to try to get a count on who would want what kits, and he said he WILL produce them!  #^

He asked me which one I was most interested in, and OF COURSE I said I wanted the STILLETO first! He loves the Stiletto 660 as much as I do (It's a sexy looking plane, if you ask me), and that he wants to start there.

How many are interested in a 1/2A Stiletto kit?

Since the wings are essentially the same just with different tips and flaps, I also might try talking Walter into selling the plans and basic wing kits, sort of a short kit. I would think in doing this, if you had the wing kit and plans, you could decide which model to build after looking the plans over. They you would just supply the sheet wood for the fuse, tips, flaps and tail parts to make whichever model from the 5 plane plan set.
Not sure if it is as simple as that, but if it is, that would be pretty cool I think. y1

Please Chime in if you are interested in a 1/2A Stiletto kit from Walter. I'll be calling him mid week next week to report the interest.

To make it easier on Walter and as you suggested, maybe more desirable in the market, just produce a short kit consisting of the plans and wing kit, and let the buyer decide which fuselage and mode to build. I remember discussions about this years ago. I think it was an out growth of a 1cc stunt class out west somewhere? That would have allowed the then newer .061 engines on the market to be used for slightly bigger airplane. .061 is NOT 1/2A, but is actually A class engine. I would be interested in at least a set of plans, or a short kit as I described.

Yes sir, the leprechaun stunt contests. I made an attempt in December, but because of a bad fuel tank set up, I couldn't keep mine running. The contest I went to was in CA at whittier narrows.

If this kit thing happens, and as long as is not too soon (saving money for house down payment and stuff) then I'm in. Short kit, plans, builders choice. That sounds good.

And if the wing is basically the same for all, maybe if there's a large enough demand one of the wing guys could have the templates to cut cores?  I've got an original sized Tercel foam wing on order from Bob Hunt.  Maybe a Little Legends plans and foam wing core option?

Les,
It's been a while since we have spoken or seen each other. This thread has me energized.
I have all parts cut for one of each of the Little Legends.
As soon as I get all the chores/repairs done from the Hurricane  I will be starting on another   "Little Legends Stiletto".
The Genesis has many flights on it, have to strengthen a gear mount in the inboard wing and it is ready to fly again.
Take care,

If you would be so kind as to post a picture of one of your models,  Roger, that would surely spark some interest.
Larry, i believe the series is meant to use any beam mount cox or Norvel or AP type .049 to .061.
You could probably easily adapt a radial mount engine though,  like a black widow, because of the profile fuselages.

The Li'l Legends Series - designs by Dick Sarpolus reported in the July, 1996 issue of Flying Models by Bob Hunt - is another great series.  It includes several warbirds and there seem to be about a jillion designs in the series.

Chris,
Unfortunately, the Stiletto experienced a broken .oo8" line during second corner of an outside square, no pics available. That is why I want to build another.
Attached pics of the LL Genesis alongside a 1/2 a Pathfinder for reference.

Note: Initially flew Stiletto w/Cox .061, it wanted more power. Now use Norvel .061's on all my "1/2A ?" stunters. More than adequate power!!  :-)

Looks like I have ELEVEN people showing interest in either plans + short kit, or plans and a full kit.

I'll make an Excel list later and post it here to make sure people are accurately represented.

Bob Hunt-
Would you be willing to cut some foam cores for those that wanted, and if so, could you provide a ball park figure?
If it is a go, and you don't have them, I will see if I can get the template info to you from Walter.
Heck, you might already have it somewhere. Don't kill yourself looking for it though. It's just an idea at this point and only one or tw may be interested in foam cored wings.

Kind Regards,

Hi Chris:

Yes, I can cut cores for these wings. Give me a call and I'll give you a figure. If you can get an order together for a bunch of them I'll give the group a special price. The actual work required to make a 1/2A wing is not much less than that required to make a larger wing or core set.
