whats the right way to rewind your lines when your done? i just runied a set of 30.oo lines

I assume you probably wound them up like wrapping a cotton string around a spool which puts a twist in the lines with every wrap. A common beginner mistake. The right way to do it is to wind them up by rotating the storage reel and not going hand over hand around the spool.

Since I have been getting clumsy lately, I bought a Tom Morris line winder. Makes a pita job a cinch.

I'm working on a 2-reel handle on which you can wind the lines quickly, hand-over-hand, in a figure eight, no twists--every other twist is opposite, so they cancel each other out.

I believe mine came from RSM. This should be easy to make. I'll post a pic later.

CLC sells them. Heres one I made thats a TM copy. Easy to make and use. Probably cheaper to buy unless you plan to make 7-8 of them...Hope it helps..

The Good Lord gave me two sets of line winders.................. when I lose them, I don't think I will be flying anyway.....

Looks like the one I made years ago and still use. Had to glue the screw into the main body as it would get loose in use. Mine even works on the larger reels. Later, DOC Holliday

If you lose just one...someone can give you a hand! ;D LL~ H^^
I'm with you. I use a rag for cleaning and lubricating (WD40) the lines as I wind them on the reel. That gives me a chance to look for kinks, frays, etc. as I put them away. I hold the lines apart with a finger as I run them through the rag so I can check them individually. Of course, this is only one way...and it takes a bit longer.
Also, you don't want to do this in the circle if others are waiting to fly. ;)

That figure eight pattern looks like a good idea. That wrap is OK for fabric lines, so I guess the proposed one is not for steel ones, go for it..

Yep, I guess I could get a *little* help as long as I still have my right hand! LL~ I just stick my left forefinger in the center hole and my right forefinger in the hole on the reel part, and start cranking. I can't see any difference in that (I mean, that's why those big holes are THERE! LL~ )and holding a stick with one hand and a knob with the other. Maybe I am missing something.... ??? ??? ???

The handles make it easier to control the winding. In my case however I have to remember to pack the winding handle with my other stuff, another case of CRS.

Actually I'm trying it with steel lines now. I have a set rolled up on one, just letting it sit for awhile, then see how well they straighten out when I unwind.
the orange one is "fabric" lines (Spiderwire); the red one is .008 7-strand SS.
