LineIII Update
« on: February 15, 2013, 08:41:27 AM »
Received a phone call from a gentleman the other day asking about running LineIII on a Windows 7 computer. When I wrote LineIII I was running Windows 98 and Windows 2000 and used the tools available at the time. Problem is the Installation and Help files that are in the download floating around the net will not run under Windows 7 or 8.

Rather than writing completely new installation and documentation I decided to simply zip up the files and create zip file. I uploaded the zip file to the Gluedobbers web site and updated the download installation instructions.

If you download and unzip the file to C:\LineIII on your computer and follow the instruction provided by Microsoft to install WinHelp32 it will run on any Windows computer.

Sparky has the old version on this site which will install and run fine under Windows XP but will not install on a Windows 7 computer. Below is a screen shot for those that are curious.

Hmm. If the program is in c++, I can make it run on modern windows.

The actual program works, the issues were created because Microsoft changed installation and help file formats. Didn't feel it justified my time to rewrite the installation and documentation using newer versions of Install Shield and Windows Help when it will run fine without a full blown installation package.
