Line Tool Question
« on: October 08, 2014, 11:05:18 AM »
While at the field Sunday one fellow had a small tool that he said was designed to slip on a set of lines and then run the tool down the lines and it would take out any curls that developed. He said he had gotten it at Brodaks but after searching the catalog and emailing them , that is not the source. I don't have his contact info or I would ask him and I will not be getting out to the field again for at least a month. Does this little tool sound familiar to anyone? And where would I procure one?

I recently acquired a line straightening tool that is in the DuBro fishing tackle catalog. Its a series of rollers on three axles see: http://shop.proseriesfishing.com/p/small-wire-straightener?pp=12.

It does work but it changes the surface finish of the lines. Better to not kink the lines in the first place.

I'm new at this but i've got a couple routines that help prevent the kinks.
1. As I unroll my lines I stick my finger between them and when I encounter a twist, i just turn the reel until its gone.
2. Before i hook up to the plane or handle, I pass the last few feet through my fingers and let the individual wires unwind. Occasionally, I hook the lines to another handle fitted with ball bearing fishing swivels. Give it a tug and watch the twists go away. Lines lay flat and straight.

Curious as to how others deal with this.

That looks like the thing he had. Thanks.
