new plane for this season
« on: January 31, 2023, 09:16:13 AM »
hope you folks like it.
My new plane for the upcoming season.
Time Machine turned profile/electric.
Did change the rudder shape is about all tho.
Did not have an ST60 so made it into a profile.
wound up using a YGP esc instead of the one in the picture. did not like the spool up on the
original esc. WAY TOO FAST.
Built up wing, not foam core.
All up wight with heaviest battery on board: 58.2 ozs.

What size of plane is that?  Wing area/span?
Looks great!

The Time Machine (all three sizes) are a reduced size Patternmaster.  I never flew a Patternmaster so I can't compare any of the Time Machine "clones" to it, but I have built all three sizes of the Time Machine.  I was quite satisfied with all of them.

From my memory, the 60 size is about 650 squares.  The 50 is about 585-600, and the 40 about 530-540.  Plans available from Tom Dixon.  Tom has modified the fuselage look on the latest versions.  I always did that since I never cared that much for the jet style look.

Brent

this is the 60 sized bird. 650sq. in. area. Tom Dixon plans. (but a built up wing and profile fuse.)

John, thanks much.

Dick;
Doing okhere buddy. had total left shoulder replacement surgery this past Aug. Gives me fits when the weather changes and cold out.

Just been CL flying these days. Boating is no more. Charles Jones has all my old stuff.
Reserected my old 1/2A speed ship. Ran the motor for the first time a couple months ago. tachs at a bit over 28K. (Cox 3 port TeeDee Schnurle engine).

Hope you are doing well down your way. would like to go CL flying with you when the weather changes back warm again.

Carl,
That one should be a great flying ship for you. I like the weight you have there for a 60 size ship.

Very Good .

Might want a wobbly rudder . The Strega without had uneven tension across the top of the Sq. 8 . So , . . . Conected it . ifin it does that , do it , and it's even tension .
A 70+ Ounce Strega and your arms six inches longer after each flight . not sure if its cumulative ! . Just thought Id Mention that .

Looks good & the weights good . AND theres No Oil ! .

Tim

the YGP one on the plane now is an 80A unit as well.

Being an X Electronics Technical Designer/Technician in the Air Force, I have learned over the
years to build in excess headway JUST IN CASE..   y1 #^

and besides the weight of the 80A over a 50A is only .06 oz.
