Gentlemen;

I do not log in unless I want to look into a place that requires being logged in. As such you would get the impression that I do not look at SH very often. I bet I check it at least 4 times per day. This with out logging in. So I have clicked on the box that says keep me logged in. Do you do this and if so are there any problems with doing that.

No problems at my end stayin logged in.   The only time I have a problem is when the history files of the computor are deleted.   Then I have to log in again.   Somehow Sparky's machine knows when I am on line and when I am not.   Otherwise I would way too  many hours on here.

John,

Yes I know you spend many hours on here. I think it is good that we older types can use this wonderful site to talk and listen. Chuck

I stay logged in all the time and have experienced no problems. To me it's convenient to just click on the bookmark and not have to do the password thing all the time.

I suppose this is beating a dead horse, but I have to log in every time I come to SH.  When I pull up SH from my favorite list I am listed as a guest.  When I log in I hit ht letter "J' my name comes up in the correct box. I then type in my pasword, hit the "Always logged in little box and then enter I get to SH without any problem. I am on SH at least 4 times daily, and this is my favorite site.  If I go to another site I close my connection and have to go through the same thing again.  Also, SH is the only site that I have a problem replying to a thread.  Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 times to rewrite a reply before it actually gets on the screen, and that includes this ime.  I empty my "cookies"every day and the problem still happends.  This past week I was visited by somebody that earns their living with computer problems.  They could not fix it.  With all that said, I will continue to be on SH as much as I can because I think it is the best site for CL ANYWHERE.

FWIW, I have always checked the "forever" box. When I want to log in ("Clock in", since I'm a moderator, but that seems to make no difference), I type an "s" in the box and the rest of my name and the password (shown as dots) yumps into the spaces and I'm in and cookin'. If I want to go to SSW, I don't log out here, just click on SSW in "favorites". Same happens at SSW, OBTW, just type in an "s".

And every time I shut off the computer (almost every day), the history, cookies, temporary files and all that gets deleted (I use CCleaner and have all the boxes checked off down to and including "Windows Log Files"). That reminds me, I'm out of chocolate chip cookies and Cokes down in the shop, so I'd better head to the supermarket and get some. Num!  #^ Steve

Well, if you empty your cookies every day, the site doesn't recognize your computer because you have deleted the SH cookie.

Dick, thanks for your post. I looked again at CCleaner, and I do NOT have the box checked for "AutoComplete Form History". That's what makes the difference. If I put a check mark in that box, I will lose the easy login. I'm using IE Exploder, and I suspect that other browsers will be different.  H^^ Steve
