LHS suprise and questions

Dropped by my LHS today and suprise they had two Enya 15 IIIs' on sale so I bought them. Questions, are these any good and what size wing area would make a good twin engine model for them.

If you're looking for kind of a sport model, Brodak has a neat profile Tigercat for 2 .15's. I have one I'll never build I'd sell you. How convenient, huh?

Lucky you -- my LHS owner doesn't know what control line is; if you showed him an engine with a venturi he'd ask why anyone would want to sell a defective engine.

Logic tells me that something with double the wing area of a single .15 model should work out right, so that's probably wrong.  If there's anyone out there that does a lot of twin design I'd love to see a general rule stated.

Wild Bill recommended them for the Fierce Arrow 400.  They should fly any stunt/sport type model up to 40+ inches and 400 squares, under 2lb.

Dwayne, it's symetrical. It's just not a real thick airfoil like a PA design. More like a Ringmaster.

RSM has the LA Warmth coming out in the Spring. It is a 15 sized version of Bob Whitely's LA Heat. A very nice looking twin stunter.

         Dwayne, I used a few of the Enya 15's  for quite a few years. My version was the 3303 which worked but I could never tame the runaway I was getting. I then used the 3304 which had some differences such as a slightly larger head and no casting obstructions within the exhaust ports. I feel this worked better than the 3303. The muffler I had was retaining heat so I opened the hole which helped but it was clear it didn't like it. I then found that I could use a Randy Smith muffler for a FP.40 which fit the stack close enough to use the stock retaining strap. This fixed 50% of the problem I was having. I was using the Fp.40 needle valve which has a larger diameter than the .15 size OS needle which I feel was another problem. My original Enya needle broke during a crash and I didn't have an exact replacement. These engines require a lot of break in and I was getting impatient with them both. Other club members were using OS FP .15's and the performance I was achieving was identical in my opinion. We were running the engines with a 7x6 props of various manufactures but I found the APC's to work well. I was using what I feel was too high of an oil content at first. After reading the instructions it seems that 20% castor is the recommended . Ken

How about a twin Ringmaster? Johnny Mac (McCollum) from the Brotherhood is the designer/basher/builder here.He used 1 S1 wing with extended center section. Flys really well! I flew it on its second flight, and when those MVS.15 leaned out, this design turned into a screaming beast! Pulled like a horse.Ask Pat Johnston! I was sadly mistakened about how this project actually turned out! And it really doesn't get any simpler to build!

Now that is slick  But I think I'm going to make this a scratch build project I'll be sure to post pics when I get started.

       It appears as the engines on that twin are Norvel's. If they're the AME version that thing must be something to hold onto as I have one on a foamie combat wing and its a wild ride. I  would think the Big version would do pretty well. I had my Enya on a Ringmaster jr. which was a bit nose heavy for the plane but it did well after I lengthened the fuse an inch and a half in the rear. The Akromaster is also a good choice for the Enya. Ken
