Lew McFarlands Shark 45 / Humbler weight?
« on: July 28, 2022, 04:12:52 PM »
As a curiosity, does anyone know the weight of Lew McFarland's Shark 45 / Humbler?  I'm interested to know how light those were, as flown back in the 60's?
Laser-cut, "Ted Fancher Precision-Pro" Hard Point Handle Kits are available again.  PM for info.

In his construction article for the original Shark, (American Modeler, Oct, 61) Lew McFarland wrote:  "The original model weighed 57 oz. ..."  He also wrote:  "Care must be used in selecting wood to get strength without excess weight.  Don't be afraid to use the knife and sandpaper on portions that are not needed for strength."
