Leaving for the '12 OZ Nats.
« on: December 26, 2012, 04:46:10 AM »
Well finally got the plane sorted and in trim - talk about leaving it till the last minute. PA 75 working great.

The OZ nats are being held in Albury - NSW :
Albury is situated above the river flats of the Murray River, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. At the airport, Albury is 164 metres (538 ft) above sea level.
Climate

Albury has a warm, temperate, four-season climate, with cool to mild winters and very warm to hot summers.[6] In summer, the mean daily maximum temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius with low humidity; however, this is subject to substantial daily variation. An average of 17 days with a maximum above 35 degrees Celsius occur in this summer period. Mean winter maximums are around 14 degrees Celsius with many crisp, sunny days. Frosts are commonplace in winter, with approximately 20 days per year featuring minimums of below freezing.

Its about a 3hr drive for me from home ; they often will hold nationals at this venue. - Although no Tarmac for Stunt - the Oval is always in great condition.

I will be leaving in a few hours and try to get first practice flights on Friday. Albury is similar to Muncie in that it's hot - but OUTBACK hot.. which is very dry , usually no wind and not alot fo lift in the air.
Combined with temperatures in excess of 45 degree's when it REALLY gets going, Winning these Nats for any pilot is always a true test of all parts of your system.

I cannot guarentee Internet connection in the hotel.. if I get a chance I'l try to give some updates..

PJ Rowland.

I always thought you Aussie guys had to drive for days, over crocodile infested rivers and endless desert just to get a decent steak.
A Nats three hours away? Really?
(Best of Luck Bro!)

Thanks everyone for their support : I will try my best.

Trip was easy - a lovely 3 hr drive..

No Les only those WAY WAY WAY out need to worry about Crocks or Snakes..  Not much to do right now but bolt the plane together, and mix fuel.

Will me meeting up with Joe Parisi later on this evening to give him fuel for the contest. Might just have another Bourbon and Coke and enjoy the view from my hotel balcony.

Il try to get updates and photo's - Internet connection here is very good.

Weather currently : Mid 30's light breeze 1 - 2 mph.. Official practice starts Friday.  Unlike AMA site we are restricted, to only fly in certain times.
