Another small feather in my cap. Pulled off my first overhead 8’s the other day. They were not real pretty, but they were recognizable. Added to that better squares (in and out) better horizontal 8’s and more relaxed inverted.

Made for a rewarding day.

Way to go.  As you progress through the pattern you'll find the comfortable feeling increasing, then when you have the whole pattern down you just might need to hyps yourself up a bit to be more competitive.
Most of all, (and I bet you're already there,)  HAVE FUN!!!

Look at the pattern as a WO, inverted and a bunch of loops in various shapes and combinations. This attitude may help you get over the mental anguish hurdles! 

Getting your model to fly to the best of its ability is key and makes the rest much easier. Simple stuff matters, like equal inside/outside turn. Not having achieved that will mess up your timing and eventually will result in a new bag of kindling. Probably sooner, rather than later.  Steve

I built a matched pair of freelanced Shoestring’s.  Thanks to a day spent with Paul, they are flying pretty well.  Fully up to anything I can manage yet.  I built two because I wanted an identical backup if anything happened to one of them.  Right Back in the saddle.   Also thanks to Paul, I have some motivation to really work at it. Just wish I had more days available to fly. Weather has been splendid for it, but that will begin to change soon.

No reason to not fly in the winter months unless it is raining/snowing(I have flown on a snowy day with my son) or it is too windy.  Several times John B and I would be at the Argosy casino park site when temps were in the 20F degrees.   But I have let old age be my excuse now for not flying.
