Thanks for thinking of us Gil but both myself and John live on high ground and are in no danger of flooding. The low areas both north and south of Vicksburg are under water. The river is cresting today but it will be several weeks before it returns to normal. I hope that none of you are having problems with the high water.  take care.

Do you fly on a regular bases in Vicksburg? The reason I ask is I live in Pensacola and enjoy travling and flying with others, there is also a group in Prattville Al. that fly most saturdays.

Thank's for asking Mike, we too are on higher ground, but Southwest of us in the Morganza spillway and Southeast of us in the Bonnet Carrie spillway they have opened some flood gates to relieve pressure on the Mississippi levee's.
Saturday we (cathy & I) drove over to Morganza but wern't allowed to go to the flood gates because they were getting ready to open them.
Look's like the water will be up for a few week's.
Lot's of camp's in the Atchafalia spillway are under water, and some more might be soon.
The wildlife Deer, Bears and such are seeking higher ground also, and Wildlife and Fisherie's have been advising folk's "If you see a bear in your area" leave it alone and call them.
Hopefully things will settle down soon.  Take care...

Mike,

Glad you and Johnny are okay.  We just had the claims adjuster from the tornado and now have all of our roads reopened.

Keep dry.

To Andy Whitam                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Yes we fly on a pretty regular schedule, at least I do, John has been busy lately changing jobs so he has not been out flying lately. We have a dedicated grass control line circle at the RC field. I go out and fly probably at least two or three times a week. If you are traveling thru this area give me a call and I am sure we can arrange some flying. I have plenty of airplanes if you need one .

Mike or Gil,
How far is the field from I-20?  I grew up in Canton, but live in San Antonio now.  Every now and then I pass through Vicksburg.
Best wishes,

Hey Mike, John, and Zuriel,

Glad that you all are OK.  Zuriel, did you have much damage?

I went through Birmingham going to Collierville this week and just north around Fultondale the area was like a war zone.

Not too bad.  It tried to blow my chimney off my roof.  Buckled some of the decking and the flashing. Did some interior damage to the wall and ceiling next to the fireplace.

Come on back and do some flying soon.

To Frank Simpson,         Our flying field is about 5 or 6 miles from I20. It is very easy to find, take the Halls Ferry Road exit and go south. Stay on halls Ferry Road and it will take you to the field. It is an old landfill on your right side .  Anytime you are coming Thur Vicksburg just let me know . I am retired so I am free to go almost any time. Gil posted some info about their annual contest and he told it right, I have been to their contest the last two years and it is great. If you get a chance to make it you will certainly enjoy it. The Batton Rouge guys a are a great group

Mike and Gil,
Thanks for the info and the invites.  Probably won't get over there this year, but maybe next!
Best wishes,
Frank
