Latest Project
« on: June 24, 2007, 10:21:12 PM »
Just finished by Sig Twister.  I lengthed the fuselage 3" and added a turtle deck.  Installed a weight box and adjustable leadouts (Brodak parts).  The engine is an old K&B 40 RC motor that I had converted to CL by Scott Riese.  Scott also fabricated the tongue muffler.  The fuel tank is from RSM.  The wings are covered with Ultrakote.  The solid balsa pieces are covered with silkspan with Sig clear and white dope.  This project took about two months to complete.  It was a  learning experience and am glad I did it.  I haven't flown it yet but ran two tanks of fuel through the engine today.  Lots of power!  This one is going to be a lot of fun.  Maybe someday I'll get that beginners pattern figured out.

Shawn

One very fine looking aeroplane.  Well done!

At the risk of hijacking the discussion, the extra 3" in the tail is pretty much per Ted Fancher's rework but from the pics, I reckon the moments look right.

Is the original kit too close coupled?  I don't know, I have never built or flown one.

What do you think?

Cheers, Geoff

Yeah, take 3" out of that fuselage length and it sure seems short...the added length was a good move, looks like.  Very attractive model, and that .40 should be plenty of power.
