Almost ready for clear, still have a little touch up and final detailing to do but it's getting there. Now that I can see what I imagined, wished I had done a couple things a little different like making the canopy longer and painting the white stripe dark blue instead of white. Oh well.. it is what it is....

If you haven't seen my other posts this started as a Legacy kit but about all I used from the kit was the fuselage sides, doublers and rear formers. Bob Hunt lost foam wing, Saito 62, calculated wing area with tips 690 sq/in, as it sits less clear 59 ounces. It's convertable from a trike to a tail dragger by simply swapping the mains and adding a bolt-on tail wheel.

Thanks Guys, I'm pretty excited and am hoping it flys as good as it looks like it should. Preying it doesn't have some weird trim issue like Randy's Shoestring and my Somethin'Extra.

With that Saito .62 hanging on the side it will be interesting to see what amount of tip weight is needed. I had a profile with the Saito .72 on its side and it took some inboard tip to take care of the hinging.

Man, I wish I could paint a plane with those sorts of colors. It looks really good. But around here, it would disappear into the gray bushes, blue and gray sky. But I sure like it.

Ya, one of the benefits of side mounting is the need for less tip weight. This airplane has equal panel wings with the outboard flap 1/8 inch wider than the inboard. Have two other stunt ships, about the same wing area with side mounted 56's and didn't have any issues with tip weight (62 is only 0.2 ounces heavier than a 56) . You never know till you get in the air but really don't expect it to be any harder to trim than anything else.

All you guys make me feel good, I concider myself what I would call an Intermediate builder/finisher, not near what I've seen by some of the guys that hang out here. Bob Hunt says he can build a lost foam wing in a couple of days, this one took me over a week working 8 to 10 hours every day.. Seems like I spin my wheels allot trying to be sure I do something perfect and still screw it up. Then I have to decide if I can live with the screw up, fix it fairly easily or if I need to do it all over again.

Getting close to being in one piece.. Put the control surfaces on and waiting for the epoxy to cure before going any further.. Should be ready to fly in a couple more days. Still have tank, engine, plumbing and looks like I might need to bend another set of main gear for a little more ground clearance... Will post another picture when I get it finished..
