Flea Market Finds 2
« on: November 18, 2013, 04:24:55 PM »
Well, I did it again. I hit the R/C flea market at the local R/C field. I bought: a Cox Medallion .09 R/C with muffler, an OS 10 FSR, an OS LA 25 for which the vendor threw in a second 25, A McCoy 35 lightning bolt, and a smaller R/C 3D plane. When I checked the LA 25's, I found out why he donated the second 25. One 25 had weak compression the other had a severely damaged backplate. I had planned on using metal backplates anyway. The OS 10 FSR has no compression.

That's typical with R/C engines. They run `em Full throttle and leaned out!
I've been burnt on eBay a couple times with "nice clean engines" with NOoo compression.

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

Sounds good.  Sometimes you hit the nail on the head and sometimes you don't.   I remember years ago picking up engines for almost nothing because the people did not know how to run them or break them in.
