Title: Larry Scarinzi
Post by: De Hill on August 04, 2008, 09:17:55 AM
I just found out the Larry Scarinzi was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame; He richly deserves the honor. His biography is in the Stunt Hangar Hall of Fame.

It is worth reading.

Great news.  Should have been there a long time ago.  Congradulations Larry from old DOC Holliday.  I can still remember the first time I met him.

I've beem a Scarinzi fan since I don't know when.  I have met him several times at VSC and he is a most charming and approchable man.  I only know a fraction of the models he has designed, and they are probably only a fraction of those published.  Talk about creative and innovative!  Larry de'man!!!  Go through the Flying Models and MAN catalogs for an amazing variety of really DIFFERENT models.  There may be more published modelers, but Larry is a lot more creative and innovative.

Plus, he can still do a creditable pattern with a 100mph combat model.  Seen him do it, in awe!!!  n~ #^ #^ #^ y1

That is great news, and a long time coming.

Like many of us, I can tell many Scarinzi stories. His humor is endless, and the facade of being "cheap" only covers up a very generous man. He is a fun character to be around. My son Craig and I congrautlate him!

Larry's been one of my idols ever since I saw him fly his StingRay at the Union NJ site. Always thought I'd build one. Picture attached- in the background you can see his original Blitz.

Larry, I have never met you, which I am sure is my loss. From the comments of those who do know you, I am sure I am safe in saying WELL DESERVED.

Below is an excerpt from a post I made on SSW back in '06.
Larry was, still is and will always be one of the most 2 admired and influential Model Stylists in my whole entire life!

This honor is long overdue and richly deserved!!  My most hugest and biggest CONGRATULATION LARRY!!!  It is very cool just knowing you and it’s almost unbearably joyous to see you in the Hall of Fame!  Can't wait 'til we can get our little Combat hands slapped by the NATS police again!!
You were a bad little Combat Critter last year and it felt good being bad with you!!

Phil

"Back in the day, if Netzaband or Scarinzi did something cool (and they always did!), I definitely had to find a way to use it or at the very least abuse it! While others have focused singularly on stunt and presented bold adventurous experiments, Bill and Larry are the definitive Omni Stylists of design and performance to me.
