Computer help
« on: October 11, 2017, 02:29:14 PM »
Yesterday I tried to load pictures and also reply to some posts from my lap top.   Still do not have sound on main computer.  Every time I hit the post icon/box I would get an error message that said I was taking to long to post.   The reason I was using the lap top was because grand daughter who is supposed to be watched had the main computer tied up thinking it was in reload or load condition.  After powering it off for several hours it finally came around.  But, my question is what should I look for on the lap top to correct it so I can respond to posts on the forum??? ??? ???

Not entirely sure what your problem is. When you click on the post button what happens? Is the site popping up a error message of some sort? It may not be an issue with your laptop rather a problem with your connection to the internet. Please be a bit more specific with what is happening.

Try running Disk Cleanup and Browser Delete then reboot. If you know how run chkdsk.exe c: /f /x from the command-line.

I have done a reboot several times and also one of those programs that is suppose to clean every thing up.  After that program I had to go do anupdate with Windows before I could do any thing on the lap top.   So I guess I will just have to save posts and picture down loads for the main computer.    The response is that I'm taking too much time before posting.  Even tried to post with out pictures.

Might go into Device Manager and new driver install  (or just try to do an update) for your Network Adapter.  Sounds kind of like it could be a connection issue between your laptop and your internet connection.  Also power cycle your router and modem.

My thought is like I have...local network clog on the home internet connection... I have a very poor internet connection and I see that error a lot

My read is Doc can work on SH just fine on the house puter but when GD is on the house puter he has problems from the laptop...I think just a bandwidth thing and yes since the upgrade, SH seems to be real finickey with a slow connect link...  I high-lite, copy, and save ALL my posts before hitting send...   too many lost in bit land due to my poor connection speeds
